While I have to admit that when push comes to shove I like Fender basses better, I can't understand why many Gibson models seem to be so low profile.

When are they going to reissue those classic EB basses. The Thunderbird is great but it could do with some company from it's illustrious cousins!

Epiphone came out with a pretty decent EB-3 model... I wouldnt even look at the Epi EB-0, but the Epi Elite EB-3 is a beaut! I think the modern Gibson USA has turned its back on basses for the most part... But I think thats good cause how could they improve on the original? Very Happy

Have to admit - while I love the Les Paul guitar, I've never been a big fan of the basses.

I think the reason Gibson basses never took off is because Fender have had the market sown up from day 1.

The Precison and Jazz basses are just such great designs, people seem to have given up on improving upon them and many companies are now just doing variations.

The main reasons the Gibson basses didn't take like the Fenders were the shorter scale necks and the big humbuckers that kinda muddied up most of the amps of the day, if not just blow speakers because of their high output and extreme low frequency reproduction. They weren't known as the "amp buster" for nothin'! Wink
