Hey! Lookee here! We have a place for the Gibson archtops, some of the world's finest guitars ever! I'll show you mine, you show me yours!

OK, the third one isn't a Gibson, but it's still an archtop! |

| I've always thought 335's, 345's and the like, were gorgeous. But they aren't too practical. I play in a blues band now, but I like playing a lot of Rock (like Zep, Hendrix, Sabbath, etc) and I just don't think a 335 would work for that stuff. |

| Why not? Alvin Lee used a 335 for years. Ted Nugent uses a Byrdland - a full bodied real archtop, not a thin body. Clapton used a 335 in Cream, too. Blues? B.B. King - 355, Freddie King - 345, should I go on? |

Archtops! I've loved 'em for years and I don't understand why you don't see many manufacturers(Gibson included) doing anything to cater to this market.
Anyway, in the interest of bandwidth(and some of these photos have already appeared here), I proudly present...
1951 Gibson L-50
1950 Gibson L-50
1948 Gibson L-4
and my current personal favorite acoustic, my 1951 Gibson L-4
Just for kicks, and since Herb posted a "non-Gibson", I submit here my road guitars. |

By Archtop, surely you mean a large even-toed ungulate like these, right?
And uh... you don't mind if I call you Shirley, do ya?

Those aren't archtops, those are humpbacks! Archtops have f-holes in their tops. And don't call me "Surely"! |

I know they're not Gibsons. I'm working on that. If you look closely there is a Giby in the background.
