I just got an Epiphone and am getting it restored. I don't know what model it is if it even is an Epiphone. I've been looking around for one like it and I can't find anything. Any ideas? Custom? It has a Floyd Rose bridge and a Gibson truss rod plate.

Welcome to the Forum, Stockfogs!
So, is it a Flying V, like the pic? Any more pics we can see? Closeups? We'll need s'more details to tell you much.
Stay tuned,
Stan |

| That's a pic of it, if you click on it there's a bigger pic. I'll take some more pictures and post them up here. I'm assuming it's a Flying V, but I'm not sure anymore heh. I can't find a V like it, it leads me to believe it's a knockoff, but the "Epiphone" part on the head is under the clear coat, and it's a through the body neck. |

Welcome to the forum! It's an Epi that has been modified with the Floyd Blows and it looks like EMG pickups. The Gibson truss rod cover is also a later add on. If you want to play metal, that is a good set up. If you want to play something that requires tone, you'll need different pickups. Nothing can be done about the Floyd, the swimming pool route in the body that it requires will be too big for anything else.

Hahaha! Herb, I don't think we could possibly share a closer opinion on Floyd Rose, EMGs, or metal. |

Same here! It's hard to find a Floyd fan in a Gibson camp! |

the only fans of floyds are those that have yet to own a guitar with one & those that presently own one and are too embarrassed to admit their mistake in owning one

Thanks for the posts!
So I take it that it's just a custom Epi V then. I'm kind of indifferent on the Floyd Rose, but I do like the way the EMG's sound. They're very nice on my MT-2, even better on the tube heh. I'm probably going to lock down the bridge. Any tips? things to look out for? no no's? |
