|

Got into the pickups on this new WI62 Idol guitar I just bought on eBay. It's very much like a WI64 (without VCC and Buzz tuning system). Great guitar but expected to work on pickups and electronics ... made in Indonesia.
It has been really hard to get information on the pickups. Most thought they were WB630 like the WI64 on the Washburn website ... maybe ceramic. But infact ... they appear to be Epiphone 57CH(G) pickups. They both have stickers marking them as:
57CH(G)
DOT:NECK,BRIDGE
LP:NECK
One has R one has F (apparently REAR and FRONT) scribed into bottom of pickup. The letters that follow these have been ground off ... apparently that's where the brand mark was
Found a few posts on this pickup. Apparently, Epiphone has a '57 version (like gibson with a neck and bridge version). Mine are both the neck versions and read 8.7k (F) and 8.9k (R) for DC resistance. I think they are Alnico 2. They have a definite warm distortion like you mike expect from this type of pickup but they are a bit muddy when turned up.
Anybody have experience with these pickups? |
