|

I never saw "in live" Epiphone Explorer and can't make conclusion is body (or dimension) of Epiphone Explore and Gibson Explore in same measurement or Gibson has a little bigger dimension? I know that finish and materials, mechanic on EPI aren't same like on Gibby, due that price are very different, but I think that they shall be equally... |

I've seen a pair like that, Gibson and Epiphone Explorers, side by side before and couldn't see a difference in the sizes at all. The headstocks were different, and the controls were different, but overall, they were very similar. |

Oh, thanks Stan... I expected that you'll give answer. I have here a few friend of my son that have idea to get some Epiphone Explorer and transfer them by few cosmetic move into something "near" original. It includes replacement of pickups and pots... I'm not sure how good or "near" original would be but ... it's hard to judge about tastes, isn't? |

Yes! That is a hard one to judge! Actually they are very similar, and if you swap the pickups and pots, etc. you will have one that sounds very close to the original! The headstock shape will still be a different shape, but it should be a very nice guitar! |

Eh yes, until you are "still in the office" Stan, I would like to ask you a few question about electronics in the guitar: I saw at Guitar Center, I think, that there is possible to get Gibson or so trademark pots, capacitors and other smaller parts for improvement of guitar. I know that in cheaper guitar are pots which produced in China, Korea etc. and which have big tolerance in quality (resistance...) above 15% or more and due that even genuine pickups like Gibson, Kinman, fender, SD... could sounds weaker than usually should be. Is possible by using genuine for example Gibson pots and other stuff make some noticeable improvement than stay on stock that is already inside? That question is what oft crossing my mind and mind of other that have no such luck to buy "thing from top of offer" but wish to have something good and reasonably expensive. Theoretical sound shall be improved but is it worthy? Complete of mentioned pots is by GC a less than 50 USD... not much but if difference isn't noticeable, why to do it? Nobody take off cover from backside of guitar to show what is inside except if he have intention to sell it and with this detail wish to arise final price.
Thanks for info. |
