|
|
Well I am going to build another amp as a project.... the amp I am building will be a '57 tweed Deluxe (5E3 circuit). I ordered a speaker, crome chassis and cabinet, and I already have some Heybour transformers.... next comes the fun part of building it. I will keep you guys updated as I progress on my project.... but here's a picture of the laquered tweed amp right after unpacking it last night:
And one of test fitting the transformers on the chassis....

95,
What a cool project! I wasn't aware that you could buy reproduction, finished cabinets like that. Do you mind sharing where you sourced that and the other parts?
I'm assuming that you can also get original circuit diagrams and components that allow you to build a new Tweed that sounds close to the original?
How about other amps such as Marshall? Similar duplicate cabinets/components available for them as well?
I'll be watching for your progress. |

Hey JCP! There are plenty of websites that have amp parts available for the do-it-yourself, whether its for amp restorations or for those who want to build/modify their own amps. You can also buy complete kits too that contain everything you need to build an amp.
I built an amp earlier in the year, based off an old 18 watt Marshall:

I bought the transformers from Trinity Amps, this cab, speaker, and chassis (as well as the cab for my last build) from Weber. I also know some people that have been into electronics for years so I also have access to some new old stock parts similar to what would have been in these amps originally. Original schematics and layouts can be found fairly easily for most amps if you just do a search on the net. If you want to learn more check out some of these websites (as well as other sites under "Links") as well as some of the amp building forums:

http://www.hoffmanamps.com/
http://www.gdsamps.com/index.html
http://www.tedweber.com/
http://www.trinityamps.com/
http://www.turretboards.com/
And there are a ton more sites if you keep searching for amp building.... |
