Really pleased to see this new catagory. Hope we'll get a bit more activity here. How many 335-45-55 owners here? I know Stan has a Lucille, Herb's got an old 355 (drool), and Voodoo, well, he owns most everything
I've got a white/gold pearl/gold hardware 23 yr old custom shop 335, and a red 2005 model, and played a late 60's 345 as my main stage guitar back in the late 70's/early 80's.
I read a young man here saying he couldn't picture using a 335 for hard rock, but my inspiration all those years ago was Alex Lifeson of RUSH. He still uses his white 355 and tobacco 335 extensively, so, they will indeed work very well with all the gain you want to throw at them.
Even at medium to high gain settings, thru a Marshall, for example, a 335 has a unique "woody" tone that I love.
Anybody else rockin' that 335? |

Well, let's see, no semi-hollows for rock, eh? Someone better tell Eric Clapton, Alvin Lee, Jorma Kaukonen, the Beatles, Brian Setzer (FULL hollow body!), Ted Nugent (same!), Jerry Miller, Gary Duncan, and a whole bunch of others, cause they did it and they need to know they weren't supposed ta! |

Right on, Herb. I think the ES series is one of Gibson's most versatile guitars.
Firedude, I wish I had the life of a housecat!
And sure nothing wrong w/that 137. I have a Bluesburst Classic, and it rocks too! |

Well, OK. This is my Tri-burst 137 Classic and my HRD with a Weber California ceramic speaker and JJ tubes. This is my "front line" equipment.
