I bought a 2001 Gibson SG Special a few months ago, I had a luthier set it up and it plays, and sounds great.
However, there is just one thing I can't shake. Either I've gotten fatter or Gibson SG Special bodies have gotten smaller.
Does anyone know if the Gibson SG Special bodies are smaller than other Gibson SGs?
Thanks! |

Welcome to the forum! I've never had a Special, but the original '60's ones were made from the same body blanks as the Juniors, Standards, and Customs. They measured 12 1/2" x 16" x 1 5/16". |

Dude, you've gotten fatter! Welcome to the Forum, anyway!
I own an SG Special, and I've never measured it, but it seems to be the same size as any other SG I've picked up. Now if you want a real surprise, pick up an ES-336 after playing an ES-335!
Stay tuned,

| A Special is the same guitar as a Standard, save for the inlays, neck binding and pickups.. |
