Hello all,
My name is Charlie I’m 45 and have been hanging around the forum for a while. I used to just log on and read all the great postings there is so much good information here. Sometime last year I took the plunge and actually started posting myself.
I currently live in Cork Ireland but am originally from Detroit, where in the 90’s I played briefly with a local band called Van Gogh’s Ear. We played mostly original material heavily influenced by whomever we happened to be listening to at the time. I’m a huge fan of Blues music especially British and Chicago styles but I also enjoy music from Doc Watson to Frank Zappa.
Like most guys on this board I’ve seen a lot of gear come and go but am currently trying to hold on to the last bits that I have. I am fascinated with guitars not just as intruments but as things of beauty. I love everything about them. My Gibsons consist of : L-4, L-7, ES-175, ES-335, Les Paul, and a J-50. I play mostly through a Fender Blues Jr, and occastionally I wheel out the Bassman or the JTM45.
I do own a handful of Gibson reference books which are great sources of info so I do try to help out when I can. There is such a wealth of knowlege here that I rarely have time to look things up.
Thanks for reading.

Howdy Charlie! I'm glad you're a part of the family here. That sure does sound like a nice selection of axes you're holding onto.
And that sounds like a familiar story about downsizing to a Blues Jr. amp. I have a lot friends, including myself, who have done just that. I still have a couple of "large" amps around, including my old Bassman, but most of the time I play through much smaller combos now. Heck, my main practice amp at home for the last year or so is a 5 watt Epiphone Valve Junior!
Stay tuned,
Stan |
