i got my guitar on Friday and i played it 3 or maybe 4 times.
today, after playing, i saw a yellowish spot on the white finish. its not sticking out, its not really yellow, more of a dirty white spot. i did clean the guitar already before seeing this, im sure it wasnt there yesterday. after cleaning it, it was still there (and still is).

can it be that Gibson messed up my finish? can i somehow repair it? i was thinking bout using a car polish, one of those that gets stains out of the car finish. i have been surfing online for the last few hours and just didnt find a reply.

2 days ago, my mom opened the window next to the guitar leading to condensation inside of the guitar case. however, im positive there was no stain after i cleaned the guitar that day. i took it to the guitar store today for a check up (humidity could have messed up my pickups) and i didnt see a stain either.

i first saw the stain after putting the guitar back in tis case afetr having played for 1 hour. the stain is where my wrist lays on the body, so i think its due to sweat and the friction created when moving my wrist.

ive been playing guitar for over 5 years and never had problems with a finish although i didnt always clean my guitars a lo in the past. now that i finally take care of my guitars....this happens =(

Hi Conan,

In my house are three guitars, all of them are shiny black and I really hate it because they demand really good care and regular cleaning with dry cotton cloth Rolling Eyes
I really clean my axes, especially X-plorer always after playing and before I put it in the case, but sometime I'm playing until last minute before work or movie on TV or so, and sometime I leave it for later.
You are living for sure in the state where is possible to obtain some cleaner &polish fluid, like Dunlop65 is. Thanks to my good friend from USA, that is now in China, I got for Xmass one bottle of Dunlop65 and I care axes very gently and they looks very nice and attractive.
Try you too and tell me what you mean... Cool
