All-
I have a late 80s/Early 90s epiphone Es-335 copy and I'm having some problems with the input jack for the cord. When I plug it in and exert upward pressure (i.e., put the cord between the strap and the body and cinch it tight) it plays, but if it's loose, it shorts out. I took it to Guitar center and they wanted nothing to do with it, and the local yokel didn't really inspire my confidence either.
I'm thinking the jack is just loose, but I don't know hoe to tighten it. Any suggestions? |

There's nothing really easy about working on semi-hollow or hollow body guitars. It's almost impossible to get inside and hold the jack secure while you tighten it with a wrench. But here's little trick that might help. I think what I did last time was find a pair of needlenose pliers that fit into the jack, and then force them open as hard as you can, while tightening the nut with a proper sized wrench. The jack doesn't have to be super tight, just tight enough that it will stay in one place when you plug/unplug your cord. And when you're playing, loop the cord up over your guitar and under your strap to lessen the stress applied to the jack from the cord. I hope that helps!
Stay tuned,
