I can say for sure that my 1958 Fender wide panel tweed Tremolux is *Holy Censor, Batman* good, with my es-325, es-335, les paul pro with p90 pups, in fact with all of my Les Pauls! and with my Dean acoustic/elect, single cone resonator and my blues harps either through an orignal green bullet or my llavaliere mic!
For shure!
I hear Fender is reissuing called the blues deluxe or some such name...

| Bang for buck? GC is still advertising the Crate Palomino V16 for $279. Tube amp, 12 inch speaker. Small package. I got one and I love it. |

If you are on a budget, the Epiphone Valve series are worth taking a look at. I have a Valve Jr. Head and 2 Valve Jr. Combos. 5 watts, class A tube tone machine, very simple design. There are mod kits available and some replace the speaker in the combo. Great thing about them is that they have 4, 8, and 16 ohm outputs so you can drive a variety of cabs. Older versions of the combo may not have all three outputs...
