Hiya,
just joined because a friend gave me a somewhat battered but still fully working Gibson ES120T a couple of weeks ago....apparently had been in her attack for twenty years!!! I got it cleaned and set up....but to be honest it doesn't sound so good! It is the first electric guitar I have ever had....I play acoustic a bit.....Anyway I wondered wether it was because the single pick up ain't so hot. I did a bit of research on the guitar it's self...and I realize it's at the low end of Gibson's range. Is it worth changing the pickups...and if so ..to what? Any advice/ideas would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks.

Welcome to the forum! Very Happy There isn't really any other pickup that will fit an ES-120T. But - they haven't been made for a good long while; and you may be able to sell it to a collector for more than enough money to get a much better guitar. Those vintage guitars are worth more in whatever condition they are in than they are altered or repaired - so don't do anything to fix it! They are worth even more if you have the case, and all of the hang tags and candy that came with it!

Hiya Herb,
Thanks for the advice...that hadn't occurred to me...the depreciating value bit
....good job I didn't get some bodge job done on it!!! My only reservation about trading it in/selling...is that I love how it looks!!! I know vanity vanity!!
Thanks again...

Well, the Doghouse Jazz link isn't working at the moment, and neither is the band. I haven't taken it down in hopes that it will soon resurrect....

Like the mod says, do NOT change that pickup! Your guitar is actuallty rather uncommon, and the single pole pickup from Gibson is supposed to be pretty nice. I've never played one. Sell it if ya want... I'm interested for the right price!! let me know...
