Confused Confused Confused
I know this is GIBSONTALK but I would guess that all 100% of us also play a TELE or a STRAT.
So I thought I would put it up here as well since a GOOD GUITAR is a GOOD GUITAR and as I mention at the bottom I would be intrested in a TRADE IF that trade is a GIBSON.

It is with some hesitation that I offer this guitar up for sale as it has been in my collection for 20 years and has been one of my FAVORITE TELE'S

Why can I offer it up well because I have a 72 DELUXE and basically the only difference is the SINGLE COIL in the bridge of the CUSTOM which DOES make the CUSTOM more sought after due to it's versatility.

It is also the "INSTANT KEEF" Guitar !!!! Shocked Shocked
TAKE off your heavy E string tune it to open G and VOILA your KEEF !!!! Or shall we say you are now playing the same guitar that KEEF plays !!!

I have owned this guitar for about 20 years in which during that time I have only had to do a FRET JOB which was done by a HIGH END SHOP in MANHATTAN known specifically for it's FRET jobs and TELECASTER
re-finish and re-storation jobs.
The frets were replaced with "NEW OLD STOCK" 71 TELE FRET METAL bought off an old FENDER Dealer that was closing approxomately 5-7 years ago.

AS you can tell by this pic every screw, knob, switch tip etc is the ORIGINAL PART.....recently I had taken the Guitar apart to clean it all up , so all the pots were sprayed with contact cleaner , all grounds were checked to ensure they were still making a good ground, Pick ups were cleaned out all dust removed, cap was checked to make sure it was working right and the 3 way switch was also checked out.
ALL tuners were greased and tightened in place, neck was cleaned up and any rough edged on the frets were crowned and dressed.
The bridge was taken apart and all parts soaked in cleaner then put back together after greasing up the Truss Rod the Guitar was set back up to SPEC, INTONATED......

This maintainence is performed every 6 months while owned by me, though I had used this guitar to gig with only a few times it has been a PLAYER at home and in the studio and is ( was) my TELE of choice when I needed one to go to !! ( now I prefer my DELUXE or other ax's)

The BODY is ONE PIECE SOLID ASH !!!!
NATURAL as you can see by the pics.
I do have the ASH TRAY , owners manual and it comes with YOUR CHOICE of a N.O.S. ( new old stock) TWEED TELE POODLE CASE or a rectangular FENDER TWEED case.
The POODLE CASE is HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER and is a bit more expensive , IT IS PERIOD CORRECT and still retains it's BRASS FENDER BADGE on the side of it !!!

Anyone who has known me ...knows I am meticulious about how I take care of my stuff ESPECIALLY MY GUITARS !!!!! Wink Laughing

For a 37 YEAR OLD Guitar I would say it is in MINT condition but all things considered I MUST tell you there are certainly some dings and light scratches but there have NEVER BEEN ANY MAJOR REPAIRS TO ANY PART OF THIS GUITAR......
The pickguard shows plenty of light scratches but it's the same one that's been on there since DAY 1 so I would expect to see it scratched.

The back of the GUITAR is NOT as a scratched as most guitars of it's age..what I have heard some refer to as the NORMAL BELT RASH is NOT on this guitar....though as expected it is NOT PERFECT.

The NECK is in VERY NICE condition, just enough wear that is beginning to get DARKER where you play more often, but it still retains it's nice slighty yellowed look.
There are NO burn marks or chunks missing out of the neck...the NUMBERS on the 3 BOLT NECKPLATE match the numbers in the NECK POCKET as far as a BUILD DATE.

MY PERSONAL OPINION of this GUITAR......

I bought it for a few reason;s....
1...it was a ONE OWNER GUITAR and the previous owner was a semi-
professional Bluegrass/Country/Blues musician....that told me he certainly did NOT beat on it.
2...the man LOVED this TELE and was just about in tears when I bought it from him.....I"M GUESSING HE LOVED THIS AX AND ONCE AGAIN IT TOLD ME HE TOOK CARE OF IT !!!!
3 This particular TELE is probably the MOST VERSATILE SOUNDING TELE FENDER EVER MADE.
With it's ORIGINAL SETH LOVER HUMBUCKER made with SPECIAL TYPE OF MAGNETS.
These magents were NOT ALNICO 2 or 5 but made of a COMPOSITE MATERIAL called CUNFIE made of COPPER/NICKEL AND IRON this combo is no longer used in making these pups which is why the re-issues do NOT sound like the ORIGINALS !!!!! Wink
Using this odd material in making the special size HUMBUCKER made
it impossible to re-create the sound of these highly sought after TELE'S and it's 68 STYLE BRIDGE BROADCASTER pup makes it very warm yet it retains the ability to SHREIK like a TELE when asked to.

I have found it PERFECT for that combo of BLUES/ROCK/COUNTRY as it has a bit of all of them in it's signature sound.
It's also perfect for ROCK-A-BILLY or in my case PSYCHOBILLY!!! Very Happy

This Guitar sounds great in LOW WATTAGE amps like my VIBRO-CHAMP or THE PRINCETON REVERB but when asked to perform and put through a SUPER OR TWIN REVERB it can and will ROCK with the BEST OF EM !!!

The pups break up nicely when driven and still maintain the ability to hear the lows mids and highs without getting muddy.
I have also found it to be a VERY NICE SLIDE GUITAR....

There's a reason why KEEF loves his TELE CUSTOM's and it will be quite obvious if you have ever or ever get the chance to play one of these.

AS far as an investment these TELE's are probably the MOST sought after aside form the very early ones but we both know they are way over priced.
The CUSTOM and THE DELUXE are the BEST SELLING TELE re-issue's according to FENDER"S number's.
They have been on a steady climb for years now in the Vintage Market but
it seems that there are MORE black,or brown ones available.
The NATURAL ones are certainly more sought after and are getting bought up rather quickly when advertised in VINTAGE GUITAR MAGAZINE.

WARRANTY:

EXTRA PICS available upon request;

ENJOY FELLA's !!!!
I know there are some TELE freaks about to have some BAD G.A.S.ATTACKS !!!!

TAKE NOTE : Though I would prefer to SELL her I would consider a TRADE of some of equal value or a TRADE as partial payment and cash to make up the difference...... Wink Wink Wink Wink
