hello everybody.

i've got a beautiful old 1948 southern jumbo in a crappy modern hard case that's falling to bits.
can anyone tell me, or better yet, send me a picture of what case it should have please?
best of all, if any of you have a case that you'd like to sell me...

cheers,
mark

You can find some vintage cases on ebay, they seem to be cheaper than direct from vintage dealers. Still, like some home improvements, you probably will not "make money" on it, as in, you pay $500 for the case and it only adds $300 to the total value. Why not get a vintage reissue from Gibson (if they have it), or from a vintage case maker? Seems like that would be a better choice. Best of luck...

Welcome to the Forum, guys! Cool

And I agree with Bosrocker, finding a correct vintage case for that baby could easily cost you more than it will raise the value of the package. I'd get something sturdy and protective, and call it good.

thanks for your help guys and sorry for the late reply.

you've given me some sound advice.
far more important to have something that'll protect my guitar properly than something that just looks right.
...and having seen martin simpson's calton cases at the weekend, i may save up for one of those instead. he had the end completely knocked off a case by an airline, and his precious sobell was untouched inside.

cheers,
mark

How about a picture of that beauty? Not fair to just jump in and tease us without a pic...
