Does anyone like Steve Miller Band? They are a great classic rock group from about the 70’s. I got into them when I was in high school and I’ve loved them ever since. They are a good escape from the routine play lists that are constantly being played on the radio stations today. I was really excited when I heard that they were coming out with a DVD titled Live from Chicago. Naturally, I went out and bought it and really enjoy every part of it. Their songs Fly Like an Eagle and Take the Money and Run are two of my favorites. The DVD also has a lot of extra footage too, which makes it even more worth the purchase. If you guys want to check out the DVD, which I highly recommend, you can get more information about it off the group's website. Let me know what you guys think.

Oh yeah, I've appreciated Steve's work for a long, long time. A lot of people think his stuff is too Pop, but whatever, the guy is talented, and a serious musician. He grew up immersed in music, and got some of his first guitar lessons from his godfather, none other than Les Paul. He's played with Paul Butterfield and jammed with blues greats Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf and Buddy Guy. This man knows his stuff.

I've seen him do entire blues concerts, and all of it sounded fresh, and real. He's never lost his love for playing for people, and still touring to this day, currently with Joe *One Eyed Bishop*. Cool

Well, the stuff I always here on the radio, I'm pretty tired of. I think some of his lyrics are downright goofy. BUT, I do like some of his mellower songs, Wild Mountain Honey, and In the Wintertime(?) Most of the songs are, like Stan said, to poppy for me. I've never heard his older blues side, I'm sure it's good.

Yah mon, Steve never did seem to mind too much writing a song that was just sickeningly sweet! Laughing Laughing Laughing

Well, he made a good living at it, I guess. But when the man gets down to play blues, it's all business. Cool

I loved his first two albums, The Steve Miller Blues Band, and Sailor. After that, he traded the Les Paul for a st-RAT, lost his tone and his soul, and lost my interest. He's a phenomenal guitar player, though.

Steve even went through an Ibanez period there for awhile. These days he plays a lot of different vintage axes at his shows, and gives the story and details of each one before the songs. It's kinda like Vintage Guitar - Live! Cool
